What does 'No Artificial Colours' mean?Updated 22 days ago

We are looking to use more Natural Colouring in our items but at this time we still do use them for some products while we find better alternatives.

You can be confident that where we state that a product contains 'No Artificial Colours’, the synthetic food colours known as 'The Southampton Six', connected to hyperactivity in children, are not present. The 'Southampton Six' colours are Tartrazine (E102), Quinoline Yellow (E104), Sunset Yellow (E110), Carmoisine (E122), Ponceau 4R (E124) and Allura Red (E129).

The natural colours we use instead include:

Spirulina - a type of algae that grows in fresh or salt water. It is rich in nutrients and has antioxidant properties.

Annatto - an orange-red colouring derived from the seeds of the achiote tree.

Curcumin - a bright yellow colouring produced by plants of the Curcuma longa species.

Beetroot red - a red glycosidic food dye obtained from beet.

Sodium copper chlorophyllin - a derivative of the natural green pigment chlorophyll.

Anthocyanins - Water-soluble flavonoids widely present in fruits and vegetables.
